Central Etobicoke Community Hub Initiative

About Us

The CECHi advocates for the creation of new community spaces and the expansion of community services in Central Etobicoke.

The CECHi is working toward establishing a hub so that health, social, cultural, and recreational services can be provided to residents in an accessible, safe, and positive environment.

Our History

Established in 2016, the CECHi was formed in response to the efforts of:

  • The B427/Central Etobicoke Multicultural Association: A campaign to build new community facilities that was active between 1998  and 2009.
  • The Etobicoke Youth Network (EYN): The direct forerunner to the CECHi, the EYN was a stakeholder association that included  community residents, community service agencies, municipal agencies, and elected officials advocating for youth programs and  facilities from 2007 to 2016.
  • Advocacy efforts from residents’ associations, CARP Etobicoke, Social Planning Toronto, and other interested parties.

In 2019, the CECHi transitioned from an unincorporated community organization to a not-for-profit corporation, allowing us to expand our advocacy and community engagement through partnerships with other agencies.
